Welcome to the Robins Class!
We are the Year 1 and 2 class and we enjoy working together as a team. We value our friends and strive to be kind to each other. We try our best and work hard to improve in all areas of our learning. There are always lots of exciting activities going on both inside the classroom, and outside in our lovely school grounds. We are very lucky to be working and playing in such beautiful surroundings.
This year we will be studying explorers, finding out about Brazil following the Olympics, and investigating the amazing world of dinosaurs.
Poems and Songs – performing poems
We enjoy thinking about poems and what makes a good performance. We watched Michael Rosen perform “Bear Hut” and thought about how he spoke with changing volumes and high and low pitch. We noticed he had actions and his face changed to make it more interesting. We saw how he used his body and eyes to tell the story of the poem. We then worked in three groups to learn poems to perform to the class. We tried hard to put interesting expression into our words, making sure it was loud enough for the audience to hear, and used actions and facial expressions. We gave feedback to each group about what they did well and saw that everyone enjoyed taking part as well as being part of the audience.
Counting in tens 14.10.15
We enjoy practising counting in the Robins class. We use lots of different maths equipment like number lines, bead strings and Numicon. We can count in twos, fives and tens. We like to guess missing numbers on number lines and sorting numbers into their order.
We have been so excited to see our chicks hatching and then watching them grow. We have looked after Bingo, Ted and Fluffball really well and will be sad to say goodbye to them at the end of this term.
