A Year 6 comment about our school...
"Bodsham School is an absolutely brilliant school. The children are outstandingly polite and cheerful. We are perched just at the top of a hill in the beautiful countryside." – Hannah

About Bodsham School: a brief introduction
The school is popular with parents, and attracts pupils from beyond its natural catchment area. It enjoys a particularly beautiful site, which enhances the learning environment. Pupil behaviour is very good and community links are strong. Parents are highly supportive, and the assistance of the Friends’ Association is invaluable. Teachers are caring and hard working.
We emphasise basic skills; to equip children with these is to give them the best possible foundation for their future. In addition, we offer the broad range of subjects that the National Curriculum requires. Our small teaching groups also allow us to target the particular needs of individual pupils and to follow through specific learning-programmes where appropriate.
The team of adults working and/or helping in the school is highly conscious of the invaluable ‘family’ ethos which exists, and which we try to foster through praise, encouragement and caring discipline. The Christian ethos of the school is reflected in the way each child is valued and the respect and understanding evident between pupils, and between pupils and staff.
We have a strong partnership with parents and the community, working together in the interests of the children, we encourage parental/family support and encouragement of all activities. The involvement of additional adults in school is intentional and serves to prepare pupils for education after Bodsham.
We have a daily act of collective worship. As a denominational school we believe that this is an extremely important part of our life at school and this is reflected in the way we expect pupils to conduct themselves and to behave towards each other.
Our goal as a Federation of Church of England Primary schools is to maintain and stretch the highest standards of academic achievement and personal development of all of our pupils in each of our schools.
Through a Christian ethos we will create a happy and fulfilling environment where children are encouraged to be kind and respectful, building self-confidence through challenge and encouragement.
We will achieve this by developing a Whole School Learning Community where teaching staff, pupils and parents increasingly work together. This Community will help us to implement plans in a coordinated way, aligning the energy and ideas of all.
We will extend the Learning Community concept by working with other local schools, openly sharing ideas and best practice, using the wider schools community to challenge us and successfully adapt to changes in the education environment.
We will aim to support our local communities and remain schools of choice for parents.
